Show Pony

Show Pony is an essay published in Shortie Country’s third issue, that explores growing up in a normative, able-body centered dance studio in a Disabled body.

“So what does a Cripple possibly have to say about sport? Well, Everything. You take my resources, I keep my rythym, as Alice Walker said. Dance is a game of contortion and distortion and so am I. We linger on the margins because we are exiled from the center. We linger on the margins but we are still in the game.”

02

Bed Movement

Bed Movement is a project organized by myself and Thai Lu, facilitating a virtual movement series centered in access for dancers of all levels, abilities, and capacities. The series was inspired by the desire to dance, even from bed rest, and the limitations of dance access for our friends with ME/CFS and related conditions.

Vital Vessel

Vital Vessel is a series of sculptures and paintings that explore the added trauma that comes with navigating the medical system in a marginalized body. It explores social isolation, medical neglect, and our reliance on systems that constantly abandon us.
